Books Gorgeous George: The Outrageous Bad-Boy Wrestler Who Created American Pop Culture (HarperCollins, 2008) Biography of the flamboyant 1940‟s/ „50‟s wrestler and pop culture figure. Reviewed/ featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal Online, Newsweek, Esquire, Entertainment Weekly, Sports Illustrated and other national media. Now the basis of a feature film and a documentary.

/Creative Work
  Contributing historical research, journalistic reporting and creative nonfiction text to “Shadow and Reflection: Visions of Florida‟s Sacred Landscapes.‟‟ This art installation, a collaboration with photographer Suzanne Williamson on Florida‟s Native American heritage, will be exhibited at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg in October, 2011.

    AEJMC Conference, Denver, August 2010 Panelist on second topic: “The Multiplatform Magazine.” Presented on potential/best uses of visuals—photography, video—in magazines designed to be read on tablets and phones.
 
Storytellers’ Summit, University of Florida (Gainesville), May 2010 Part of a three-person panel on writing biography. Faculty at this nonfiction narrative conference included five Pulitzer Prize winners and best-selling author Michael Connelly. Also co-led a second workshop on freelancing.

ACADEMIC AWARDS


Recipient of 2010 David Delo Research Grant at the University of Tampa in support of project on Florida‟s Native American heritage. With collaborator, photographer Suzanne Williamson, was awarded October 2011 two-person exhibition at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg.
