I’m a photographic artist living in New York City and Tampa, working on the Florida Mounds Project jointly with my husband, John Capouya. We will exhibit work from this project in an installation titled Shadow and Reflection: Visions of Florida’s Sacred Landscapes, at the Morean Arts Center, St. Petersburg, FL in October 2011.
I have been doing similar work for years, photographing prehistoric rock shelters in the Northeast, for example. My black and white images of Louisiana mounds—pictures that show the present but evoke the past—were published in American Archeology magazine.

Greatest Hits: My photographs are in museum and private collections, and I was awarded fellowships to the artist colonies, MacDowell and Yaddo, serving on the Board of MacDowell. Presently I’m on the Artist’s Advisory Committee for the Hillsborough County Arts Council and a member of the Friends of Photography, MFA, St. Petersburg and a Friend of The Florida Museum of Photographic Art in Tampa.
Past Lives: The Photo Editor of ARTnews magazine until early 2008, I also worked at Newsweek magazine. I managed photography galleries and collections in New York City and was a member of “Here is New York,” a collective photographic response to 9/11.
